Various Varieties Of Coffee Beans Available

By Dan Wilson

Coffee drinkers are usually concerned about the kind of flavor they go for when purchasing the commodity. A seasoned coffee lover will tell you the distinction between the different kinds of flavor which you present them with. It all depends on the type of coffee bean that was used in the manufacture of the coffee product you buy.

The beans used to make this caffeinated drink are divided into two major categories, Arabica and Robusta. They can be grown anywhere in the world. However, there are some regions that are famous for producing the best beans.

Arabica, the most popular bean with both manufacturers and consumers, is grown mainly in Kenya and Ethiopia. There are some slight differences between the beans grown in these two regions however, perhaps because of the specific areas where they are planted. The Kenyan Arabica bean tends to be bitter while the Ethiopian one is full of flavor.

Even though Kenya and Ethiopia are recognized as major producers of such beans, their Latin American counterparts are not left behind. The beans grown in Latin America are unique in that they taste like cocoa to some extent. Even though they are slightly bitter, they make a great drink. The one grown in Columbia is also different due to its darker texture as compared to other bean types. The climate as well as soil found in these specific area, greatly determine the varieties of beans grown.

The other bean type is Robusta, which is not as oily as the Arabica beans. This makes the beans acidic, meaning they have a bitter taste. That does not translate to them being unable to make a great drink though. In fact some of the best espresso is made using these beans, which are also referred to as Canephor. The beans are less expensive than their Arabica counterparts.

There are different ways of making beverage using the products made from the various kinds of beans. One of them is by making espresso coffee. This is a beverage made with specialty and by forcing steam, at very high pressure, to go through roasted and aromatic beans. One of the drinks that are made through this method, include cappuccinos.

Caffeinated beverages and drinks sold in stores and supermarkets are of a wide variety. One may tend to be overwhelmed when asked to choose. It helps if you have a certain brand in mind. Some products are of poor quality and therefore there is need to look at the ingredients which make up your drink.

Coffee is a great drink for any occasion, but it is also rather expensive. This is easy to understand though, the process of cultivating, harvesting and manufacturing it so that you can have the drink is quite demanding. Keep in mind also that the more refined the coffee is, the more expensive it will be; however the reward of sipping the delicious drink makes the cost worth it!
