Millions of people all over the world wake up each morning with a cup of coffee. Although it is known that coffee has properties that stimulate and can help a few people feel more alert, there are a few other health concerns that have come about from drinking too much coffee. Studies have shown some of the results of drinking coffee in moderate amounts may be advantageous to us. Yet some of the other effects of drinking large doses of coffee may be doing more harm to your health than good. This post will examine some of the effects that coffee drinking might have.

Roasted coffee contains methylpyridinium, a very powerful antioxidant. This particular antioxidant isn't known to be present in large amounts within any other food type. It isn't even found in raw coffee beans. Methylpyridinium is created by the roasting process. Trigonelline is the name of the compound in raw coffee. It is the roasting process that enables the trigonelline to be transformed into methylpyridinium. This is found in many different types of coffee that include instant and decaf varieties. Methylpyridinium can even protect the body from some forms of cancer.

Moderate coffee consumption can also slightly lower the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes. When compared to those who drink no coffee at all, people who consume 2 cups of coffee daily can reduce the risk of diabetes by up to 50%. The common rule of thought is that the caffeine in coffee causes a decrease in insulin sensitivity.

The downside is that this can lead to a condition called hypoglycemia, which is low blood sugar in some people. The symptoms are unpleasant and my include sweating, clammy skin, weakness, and heart palpitations. People who have been diagnosed with this condition are encouraged to avoid coffee completely.

Despite the fact that there are noteworthy benefits for drinking coffee there still remain a few negative effects to watch out for. Avoid the possible risks by only drinking coffee in moderation. If you enjoy in moderation you can enjoy all the potential benefits while eliminating many of the risks.
